Critique of GVSU’s AD Club Website
We have come across the Grand Valley’s Ad Club’s
website. The site is poorly designed in
many aspects, including the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and inefficient use
of space. This site does not invite the
user to tour the site with any elegance or style.
There are many things that are not appealing about this
site. The first mistake that the site
designer makes is that the site’s title is “untitled one.” This is a major
problem because it gives the site an amateur feel as well as indicates that the
site designer did not spend enough time on this project.
The second thing that the site does wrong and is continuously
doing wrong is the complete lack of updates.
The news link shows events such as the first meeting and campus life
night. Both are events that happened in
early September. This shows lack of
devotion to the site and its upkeep. This
is a major problem because sites require continuous information.
The last and final problem that the site has is that the
background is not well designed for the application. The background graphic changes sizes and
position from page to page as well as completely cover link text at the bottom
of the page.
These items described are what make the Grand Valley’s Ad
Club website a serious design problem.
